Welcome to the parish of maidens, Parikkala. Parikkala was previously known for the whitefish in Lake Simpele and for its girls. Nowadays it is known for its wonderful natural surroundings and its atmosphere of Karelia.

For the nature lover, there are countless sights, from the world's most widely respected bird-breeding lakes to other special natural wonders. You can also combine your holiday with the Savonlinna Opera Festival or the Imatra Big Band Festival.
In winter, Parikkala offer things to do and experience for the whole family. You can go cross-country skiing, fishing, winter swimming, kick-sledding or snow-shoeing. A range of courses in such activities are a pleasant addition to a holiday or conference programme.

Although the local folk are enthusiastic pickers of mushrooms and berries, there is plenty left in the forests for you. Many feel that autumn is the most beautiful season. In addition to harvesting the fruits of the forest, you can also drop in on the enormous flocks of geese, cranes and hawks preparing to migrate south.
