Puhvelinpolku Bison Farm

Established in 1994 near Niukkala, the Puhvelinpolku Bison Farm is an interesting destination for the whole family.  Currently the growing herd of prairie bison contains bulls, cows and calves. A cow that escaped in 2005 became a TV celebrity!

Visits to the bison farm only by agreement.

Kitee Animal Park

Kitee Animal Park, which is about an hour's drive from Parikkala, (http://www.pajarinhovi.fi/)
is the nearest zoo. Animals there include bear, lynx, elk, wolverine, fox, arctic fox, reindeer, crane, wood grouse and Ural owl. More exotic species are alpacca, yak and emu. The animals are kept in spacious natural enclosures.
